How Did Marriages Begin?

Marriages system is prevalent in all the countries of the world today. Throughout the human history, there have been three types of marriages. The first was the marriage of the primitive man who simply took away by force the woman he desired to his cave. The second type was the marriage by contract or purchase. This involved the purchase of the bride from her family, in exchange for money, cattle or horses. The third type of marriage, practiced in most of the countries of the world today, is the sacred bond having a social and emotional basis.

Marriage, in fact, is a social custom intended to provide social and emotional security to the partners. The marriage, ceremonies are performed and celebrated in different ways in different parts of the world. For example, the christian marriage ceremony takes place in a church and the Hindu ceremony before a fire. The ring ceremony is an important part of the Indian marriages. The ring, being circular in shape, is a symbol of completeness.

After the marriage, both the bride and bridegroom are declared as husband and wife. They become life partners. Most human marriages are at least intended to last for life, but many societies have some provision for divorce, ranging from the easy to the almost impossible.

Why divorce happens? Is marriage is considered as commitment or adjustment?

A divorce happens after a husband and wife decide not to live together anymore and that they no longer want to be married to each other. They agree to sign legal papers that make them each single again and allow them to marry other people if they want to.

Through awareness, analysis, and understanding, your marriage can begin healing and growing into the long-term, deep relationship you have always wanted.
