10th English CBSE sample question paper 2022-23

1. Some people get emotional satisfaction from talking about how awful other people are. But research has found that when you talk negatively to say, a friend about how awful a colleague is, the listener is more likely to associate the negativity to you, rather than to the person you are describing. Researchers call the spontaneous trait transference'. So it is best to go easy on bad mouthing others because it may backfire. Anyway

2. It takes a big person to accept outwardly and inwardly that they are at fault. I am not saying we should never blame other people. Sometimes others are at fault and they need to know it and take responsibility. But being able to accept responsibility when that is right means we actually become less helpless and passive.

3 If everything is someone else's fault, then what part to do I play in my own life? Are my actions entirely without consequence? Am I that powerless? Or do all my actions only lead to good outcomes?

4. Am I an entire new type of human being? Knowing we can accept responsibility when things go wrong means we can also accept credit when things go well. We do, as individuals, have an effect on life; and that is a good thing.

5. But we need to develop the capacity to be objective enough about ourselves to avoid assuming we could never possibly have created problems ourselves. We also need to distinguish between accepting responsibility and punishing ourselves unduly.

6. If you are used to just dishing out the blame and not accepting your part, remember the research that shows being able to apologize in relationships makes them much more likely to last and thrive.

7. Ever noticed how some people get more hung up on assigning blame than actually fixing a problem. if people feel you blame them unfairly. they will resent you. They may even come to hate you. They may even come to hate you. People instinctively hate injustice. People can be shouted at, cursed at, and blamed, but still do not know what it is they did wrong.

8. Calling someone an idiot or telling them they always do everything wrong! is not feedback, it is just abuse, no matter why you think you are doing it. This kind of emotional incontinence may make people anxious, but they will never respect you because it displays your weaknesses so clearly.

9. As the wise Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius said. "How much more grievous are the consequences of angerthan the causes of it."Life is full of people who take emotional short cuts and blame other people unfairly or aggressively; for the sake of the human race, don't be one of them. But I would not blame you if you were.

How To Reinforce your child's Handwriting In Digital Learning Age

We all are in digital age and in this age, when the written communication is increasingly done through tabs, laptops and mobile phones, pen-man-ship is on a decline. Nowadays children get exposed to keyboards, touchpads and swipe buttons even before they are introduced to chalk, paper and pencil. why we should ignore the importance of teaching effective handwriting skills to our students. Let us not ignore and try to implement multiple approaches to build good handwriting techniques among students of all age group.

As a parent and Teacher what we can do at pre-school level to enhance handwriting skills.

Strategies to improve the handwriting of preschoolers:

Work on hand-eye coordination & visual-motor skills which is vital for neat handwriting, grows out of eye-hand coordination. The eyes and hand should work in close coordination to ensure that the each letter are correctly formed and stay within the margin or a line.

Provide lots of opportunities to trace and draw shapes and simple drawings in early childhood BEFORE letters are introduced. Encourage child for scribbling activities.

Give special task that require slow, controlled movements. For example, squeeze glitter glue over a line, circular strokes to color an image, coloring shapes so on

Exercise activities also helps child to strengthen their fine and gross motor skills, Exercise with shoulder muscles so that the hands and fingers will be able to move more freely and accurately. Like Climbing on playgrounds so on.

Many research, educationist says that writing by hand also activates the parts of the brain that are involved in memory, impulse control, & attention.

Handwriting is more connected to movement of the heart. You can express yourself better by writing not by typing.

How Rhymes and Music develops child's cognitive skills.

Cognitive skills are the skills that your brain uses to think, understand, read, learn, grasp, remember, recognize, reason, memorize and pay concentration. "Brain training" activities trains the cognitive skills where the brain uses maximum ability to think and learn.

In Kids Cognitive skills include: Asking questions, problem solving, developing an increased attention span, matching, visual discrimination, comparing, sequencing, simple reasoning, sorting, ordering and organizing.

And also understanding fact and fiction, understanding cause and effect.

How Rhymes and Music develops your child's cognitive skills?

A rhyme is a repetition of similar sounds in two or more words and rhyming is particularly common in many types of poetry, nursery songs, and carols. Music can play an important role in your child's cognitive growth, even before birth exposing your child to music ignites all areas of child development. Like music, rhymes has strong rhythmic patterns the timing of syllables helps listeners define one speech sound from another.

Most children love singing and dancing along music. Music not only brings happiness to children, it also benefits children’s cognitive skills. Music can then be used to motivates children to engage in learning activities. Child can be motivated to participate in activities involving different sounds, rhythms and songs so that their body and mind can work together to learn new things attentively.

Music and rhymes helps children learn language by increasing vocabulary, learning the sounds of words and hearing the rhythm of language. Children can also gain large and small motor skills by performing actions and movements.

Importance of Bridge Course For School Students

Bridge Course

Bridge Courses for school are primary courses that are designed to engage student towards learning all across the globe. They are connecting courses that connect a student’s previous course and with the course student wants to join so that he/she does not have to begin from the start of the course. Bridge course can be considered as supplementary knowledge that strengthens the knowledge in student about the advanced subjects that will be taught to student in the upcoming future.

It helps to over come the barriers between the known concept with the unknown concept. During Bridge Course both student and teachers get enough time for better learning and delivering the concept. For Example: There is a poem "Summer" the teacher can explain concepts related to summer like seasons, weather, climate, temperature so on. this helps the child to recall his previous knowledge and connect to new concept.

Bridge Course help students to recall, revise, recap what they have already learnt and relates to new information to prior knowledge enhances learning. It is an effective program to revise old lessons. It enhances the memory of learners there by strengthening learning.

Bridge course is a platform for learners where previous concepts will be revised to enhance new syllabus which is inter related. During Bridge course, important topics and basic concepts of the previous classes will be revised to prepare the students for the new syllabus, "A Bridge Course is a capsule form of subjects the students learnt in the previous academic year."

Bridge course helps students to understand the need and scope of change in learning patterns from current level to meet the expectations of the next level. The purpose of Bridge course is to revise the basic concepts which the students might have forgotten. So that when the school reopens they can comfortably follow the next higher grade syllabus.

The pandemic has resulted in significant learning losses, particularly in Maths. Our Bridge Course program will help students close conceptual gaps and prepare them for the next academic year. Bridge course helps students to open up, think creatively and become responsible and independent students.

Objectives:

* To develop academic skills and assist the students in various subjects.
* To raise the level of understanding of students in basic subjects to improve themselves for further academic work.
* To create interest in learning.
* To introduce basic concepts related to core subjects.
* To develop confidence in learning.
* To strengthen students learning skills.

“I Hear and I Forget, I See and I Remember, I Do and I Understand”

Importance of Bridge course

The pandemic has disrupted the education cycle of students, especially lower primary.  Every class is an important milestone in the academic journey of students. The Bridge Course will equip students with the prerequisite skills and fundamentals required to prepare for the academic year.

The Bridge course is designed to provide a thorough recap of core concepts from previous grades with ample practice through a simple, easy-to-execute curriculum that includes videos, worksheets, quizzes and group activities. Bridge course helps teachers to know about the students intellectual, student's learning ability.

Bridge courses are classes that give you information from a basic course, to prepare student for a more advanced course, thus bridging between the basic and advanced courses.

We request all our parents to coordinate and co-operates with our teachers to make this program successful.

How parents can help their kid's learning during pandemic?

Parents' Role In Education During Pandemic

ARE PARENTS REALLY SUPPORTING THEIR CHILDREN’S LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC?

We all know how critical the situation is, how things were effected through the outbreak of the pandemic across the world, when all the routines for the survival have not stop, then why learning has to be stopped?

The gates of the school are closed, the classroom are silent and the playgrounds are empty. Parents teachers and caretakers are worried about their children's education. I don't think it is only a school's responsibility to take care your child's academy and the responsibility held only on teachers. Do you think only teachers should worry in finding different approaches to deliver academic program.

Yes, my dear parents you also play a vital role during this pandemic. Parents are first teacher from the moment child is born, you can play the role of being teacher and parent. Parents should feel it is an opportunity to engage with children during pandemic not only with their studies but also other sort of activities which strengthen bonding between parent and child.

I understand the stress what we are experiencing during this pandemic covid-19, I understand balancing work from home and household chores. you may be finding it difficult or boring to keep your children on track or helping them with assignments, homework, worksheets so on. If you support school, teachers and your kids, then definitely it would be easy for better learning. It is true that technology can't replace teachers, online classes may not completely effective, staring phone and tab may effect your child's eye sight but there is no any other option rather online classes. Even teachers trying their best to reach child's learning needs. As virtual classrooms are not as simple as plug-and-play, your attention is required. May be some parents are tech-savvy but it is not that too difficult to connect to virtual classes. The fact is virtual classes are possible, only with the whole-hearted cooperation of the parents. Let’s accept reality that the gadgets which were used by children for playing games, watching cartoons, and movies, are now used for educational purposes.

You can support online homeschooling through the coronavirus pandemic.

*Let’s not criticize the online classes and teacher's efforts
* Motivate child by creating interest.
*Coordinate with your child's teacher.
*Help child to organize the learning environment.
*Assist child with timetable to maintain learning routine.
* Monitor child's academic progress on daily bases.
*Ensure your child goes to sleep and wakes up at the same time each day.
*Please don't lose your patience when your assisting the child with their assignment and home-works.
*Follow-up with your child's attendance.
*Never yell at the child when child is not responding to you. so on.....................

Hence it is important for being a parent to communicate confidence, and optimism that we will pull through this pandemic together. We need to set goal for our children by prioritizing needs, and by giving personal attention. We need to Manage our own emotions will support our children stay focused on their learning till school reopens. Have a hope everything will be fine one day and your child need not to depend on virtual classes.
How long the school remain closed?

Hope is medicine for a soul that's sick and tired.

Teacher Sharing Her Views On Her Favourite Child

Teacher Sharing Her Views On Her Favourite Child

Hello every one, I am Farisa Pre-K Mother teacher and I don't have words to express my excitement, I am very happy today, I always had a wish to meet Riya 's family, relatives and today I got a wonderful opportunity, to share my views. Riya is very polite in nature, she always understands and accepts our instructions, at this age it’s very difficult to control child, and they get destructed easily, but Riya is very attentive while we teach something in class, she always supported us and respond & react to what is been taught to her and tries to express it very nicely every time. I still remember initially she was very reserved & shy, now we see much growth in her, she is very interactive, she feels free to talk to us, she shares her ideas, and she communicates well with her mates.  She is very friendly both with her classmates and with teachers. I wish her a successful life and bright future. Riya you are always there in our memories. Thank you

Im sorry for the times you cried

Im sorry for the times you cried

I'm sorry for the times you cried,
and the loneliness you felt inside.
I'm sorry for the way things were,
and the selfishness that you endured.
I'm sorry for the nights we lost,
and the deep pain it must have cost.
I'm sorry for the love you missed,
losing you helped me realize this.
I'm sorry I wasn't the man you deserved,
this has been the hardest lesson learned.
I'm sorry I wasn't there to show,
the deepest love you'll ever know.
I'm sorry for the empty days,
and the stresses that you still yet pay.
I'm sorry for the way I left,
I've never felt so much regret.
I'm sorry for the heart I broke,
that shattered with the words I spoke.
I'm sorry for the empty space,
that laid beside you in my place.
I'm sorry for the empty arms,
you fell into when times were hard.
I'm sorry for the days that passed,
Our love now will surely last.
I'm sorry it took so long to vow,
to love you forever here and now.
With lots of love and regards

Good One

Dear responsible person,

Greetings,

Make preparation before appearing for an interview OR if you are the person who is going to be responsible for creating and filling the vacuum.  Good one for both.

I've interviewed thousands of people for jobs ranging from entry-level to executive. Easily three-fourths of the candidates made basic interviewing mistakes.

Did I still hire some of them? Absolutely... but never count on your qualifications and experience to outweigh a bad interview.

Here are eight practical ways to shine:

1. Be likable. Obvious? And critical. Making a great first impression and establishing a real connection is everything. Smile, make eye contact, be enthusiastic, sit forward in your chair, use the interviewer's name.... Be yourself, but be the best version of yourself you possibly can. We all want to work with people we like and who like us. Use that basic fact to your advantage. Few candidates do.

2. Never start the interview by saying you want the job. Why? Because you don't know yet. False commitment is, well, false. Instead...

3. Ask questions about what really matters to you.
(Here are five questions great job candidates ask.)
Focus on making sure the job is a good fit: Who you will work with, who you will report to, the scope of responsibilities, etc. Interviews should always be two-way, and interviewers respond positively to people as eager as they are to find the right fit. Plus there's really no other way to know you want the job. And don't be afraid to ask several questions. As long as you don't take completely take over, the interviewer will enjoy and remember a nice change of pace.

4. Set a hook. A sad truth of interviewing is that later we often don't remember a tremendous amount about you -- especially if we've interviewed a number of candidates for the same position. Later we might refer to you as, "The guy with the alligator briefcase," or, "The lady who did a Tough Mudder," or, "The guy who grew up in Panama." Sometimes you may be identified by hooks, so use that to your advantage. Your hook could be clothing (within reason), or an outside interest, or an unusual fact about your upbringing or career. Hooks make you memorable and create an anchor for interviewers to remember you by -- and being memorable is everything.

5. Know what you can offer immediately. Researching the company is a given; go a step farther and find a way you can hit the ground running or contribute to a critical area. If you have a specific technical skill, show how it can be leveraged immediately. But don't say, for example, "I would love to be in charge of revamping your social media marketing." One, that's fairly presumptuous, and two, someone may already be in charge. Instead, share details regarding your skills and say you would love to work with that team. If there is no team, great -- you may be put in charge. If there is a team you haven't stepped on any toes or come across as pushy. Just think about what makes you special and show the benefits to the company. The interviewer will be smart enough to recognize how the project you bring can be used.

6. Don't create negative sound bites. Interviewers will only remember a few sound bites, especially negative ones. If you've never been in charge of training, don't say, "I've never been in charge of training." Say, "I did not fill that specific role, but I have trained dozens of new hires and created several training guides." Basically, never say, "I can't," or "I haven't," or "I don't." Share applicable experience and find the positives in what you have done. No matter what the subject, be positive: Even your worst mistake can be your best learning experience.
7.Ask for the job based on facts. By the end of the interview you should have a good sense of whether you want the job. If you need more information, say so. Otherwiseuse your sales skills and ask for the job. (Don't worry; we like when you ask.) Focus on specific aspects of the job: Explain you work best with teams, or thrive in unsupervised roles, or get energized by frequent travel.... Ask for the job and use facts to prove you want it -- and deserve it.

8. Reinforce a connection with your follow-up. Email follow-ups are fine; handwritten notes are better; following up based on something you learned during the interview is best: An email including additional information you were asked to provide, or a link to a subject you discussed (whether business or personal.) The better the interview -- and more closely you listened -- the easier it will be to think of ways you can make following up seem natural and unforced. And make sure you say thanks -- never underestimate the power of gratitude.

A VERY NICE STORY WITH A GOOD MORAL.

A kindergarten teacher has decided to let her class play a game.

The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates.

So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates.

 So when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes;

some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week.

Days after days passed by, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes.

Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended....

The teacher asked: "How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?". The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they go.

Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: "This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart.

The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go.

If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime???"

Moral of the story: Throw away any hatred for anyone from your heart so that you will not carry sins for a lifetime. Forgiving others is the best attitude to take!

True love is not loving a perfect person but loving an imperfect person perfectly!!

Signs Of Depression And Coming Out Of It

You feel depressed when you lack happiness and optimism about the possibilities that you have and a constantly negative consciousness and vision is produced. You lose hope. In depression you lack an interest in things. You are sensitive to criticisms, even if they are very little. You feel sadness, impatience, a lack of perspectives. You try to reach satisfaction through material means, like, for example, eating too much, eating sweet things, etc.

You get depressed because you remember past errors; because you need the experience of love in life; because you have developed the habit of seeing only the negative in each situation, without sensing that a positive side exists. The imagination behaves in a negative way; it is weakening, depressing and even destructive. Nothing seems attractive to you and you feel unmotivated.

To get out of this state it is important to accept yourself; keep a mental state of a detached observer; don't allow the mind to cling to depressing thoughts and tune it into the positive aspects of life. Sometimes negativity and weakness have overwhelmed you to such a point that in order to get out of that state you need a "bombardment" of positivism: go on a spiritual retreat or holiday to a suitable destination; surround yourself by good company; attend a course of personal development; get out of that state in which you are closed into yourself. Take the step. Nobody can do it for you; only you have to do it for yourself!

We all think that Life should go along as WE THINK; but it will not happen. Many things will happen contrary to our wish and expectation. Adjustment is Life and we should learn to adjust with the same, to lead a happy life.

The Evolution of Anger.

We become a little irritated when we are stuck in a traffic jam and we getting late to reach somewhere on time, or we are not going to complete a particular task, as per our expectations or if someone whom we very well know decides to ignore us today, for some reason or the other.

If this seed of irritation is watered, or in other words it is given the concentrated energy of our attention i.e. we continue with the irritation for some time, it slowly grows or evolves into frustration.

Unless we take some constructive inner action to stop the growth of the frustration and we keep energizing it, it will grow or evolve into anger. And if this happens regularly and we are not careful, it will become a habit, a part of our personality, which we will finally come to believe is a natural part of your nature. We will even think we were born with it. That it is 'in our genes'.

Every time we become angry we cause the production of certain chemicals in our body and we also become addicted to those chemicals - then we look for people and situations which will give us an excuse to get angry so that we can have our daily dose of chemicals. We not only become attached to material objects, people, ways of thinking, beliefs etc. - we also become attached to our emotions like the emotion of anger. The regular secretion of these chemicals will finally kill our body. We don't need to kill our body.

We need to accept that anger is never ever productive, know that it is just not necessary to be angry with anyone or about anything, know that it is entirely our own creation and know that we can choose a different response. If we know and accept that, we will experience freedom from it.

ANGER is a deadly Killer  will kill us only. It is ONLY WE, repeat ONLY WE can control our anger by adopting Forget Forgive attitude.a

We Are Born To Love

We are born with two eyes in front
Because we must not always look behind,
But see what lies ahead beyond ourselves.

We are born to have two ears
one left, one right
So we can hear both sides,
Collect both the compliments and critisms,
To see which are right.

We are born with a brain concealed in a skull
Then no matter how poor we are,
We are still rich,
For no one can steal what our brain contains,
Packing in more jewel and rings
Than you can think.

We are born with two eyes two ears
But one mouth
For the mouth is a sharp weapon,
It can hurt, flirt, and kill.
Remember our motto:
Talk less, listen and see more.

We are born with only one heart,
Deep in our ribs it remind us
To appreciate and give
Love from deep within.

Be willing to take advice

Generally speaking people don’t take advice, even good advice. This is true even when the advice is free and when it’s offered with love. Think about yourself. How often do you really, honestly take someone else advice ? How often do you say to yourself, or out loud, “That’s a great idea. That’s a much better way of doing it than the way I have been doing.”

In order to grow, we need to see things differently. We don’t want to do the same things over and over if they’re not working well. Instead, we want to open our eyes to new and improved ways of doing things. But how can we see things differently if we refuse to take to heart the suggestions from others?

Sometimes, the reason we don’t take advice is pure stubbornness. We want to do things our own way – even if it’s not working! Other times, we avoid advice out of fear. We might be frightened that we’re going to look bad in the eyes of someone else, or that we’re going to seem incompetent. Or we might be fearful that the advice we get isn’t going to help. Sometimes we’ve received bad advice or too much advice, and we vow to not repeat that same mistake.

Life is so much simpler when you involve the strengths and expertise of others. After all, if you absolutely knew what to do to make your life better or more successful, you’d be doing it already. But if you’re struggling in any aspect of your life (and we all do), you need advice. So take the advice.

HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK "EATING LESS"

HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK

Have you ever wondered about the advantages of eating less beyond the realm of losing weight?

Yes,

eating lesser can change your life in many ways besides making you look better. This includes:

1.      Eat Less to Remain Younger
Dietary choices that include less calorie intake are beneficial for our hormones. This is particularly applicable to easting less of fried and cholesterol-laden foods that tend to impact the sexual and reproductive hormones. Many of these hormones are responsible for providing us vigor and vitality, enhancing our youthful appearance. With lesser energy resources directed towards digesting food and removing toxins, the cells have more time to carry-out essential repair work. This means the skin can be protected against aging caused by free radicals. This also works towards faster regeneration of new, tighter tissues and slower aging of the skin. Thus,
by eating less you have a greater chance towards looking younger for a longer time.

2.      Eat Less to Become More Energetic

Eating lesser food means that your body is supplied with limited calorie intake. The body needs to carefully process every bit of morsel that you consume. The digestion is directed at maximizing nutrient absorption and minimal storage of unwanted calories as fat. Thus, along with
lesser fat deposition, your entire metabolic rate is raised. This is reflected in your quality of daily life. You are bound to feel more energetic throughout the day, be more alert, able to think clearer and have a renewed zeal towards completing the day̢۪s chores.

3.      Eat Less to Become Smarter

Medical researchers across the world have repeatedly proven a direct relation between eating lesser and improving the brain's performance. This includes the cognitive abilities and overall IQ. In fact,
limited dietary intake to sharpen the mind has been practiced in many cultures that existed thousands of years ago. This concept still holds true. It has been established that eating smaller portions and at regular intervals rather than having heavy meals is more likely to raise your ability to learn and memorize with ease.

4.      Eat Less to Stay Disease-free

You might not realize this but a lot of diseases are the result of inflammations within the body. This means they are caused without an external cause like an infection. This happens when the body is unable to get rid of the toxins found in food. This kind of toxin retention is more likely to happen when we eat more. The digestive system functions like a systematic process that includes passage of food through the gastrointestinal tract and participation of many organs. When this system is stressed, the movement of digested food is fastened. This doesn't allow the body to properly filter-out the toxins. This is how toxins are released back into the bloodstream, inducing diseases. This is a
direct threat to our body's immune power and makes us more susceptible to developing diseases without any discernible cause.

5.      Eat Less to Become a Progressive Citizen

From a lifestyle perspective, eating less has innumerable advantages. Firstly, by eating lesser you are essentially making daily savings. Just think about the amount of money you spend upon eating outdoors and the rising cost of daily foods, including common vegetables and fruits. Secondly, eating less means you are directly contributing towards reducing your carbon footprints. This refers to your green quotient or
how eco-friendly you are. By eating lesser, you are reducing your dependency on the environment to feed you. This is the most genuine way of becoming a global green citizen.

Control Your WEIGHT.

Increasing weight or overweight are among the most common health concerns in modern society, and many people fail to keep their weight under control. This excessive weight is a result of spending fewer calories than it was received with the food consumed, and keeping positive energy balance in the body. This may cause a serious health condition, if not controlled.
Loosing of weight requires some help from the person itself. It cannot be achieved in day and day out. Laziness can be a worry for the person; balance must be maintained between work and rest.

Certain home remedies can reduce the weight without harming the body.

Safety tips for Women

Here are some safety tips for sisters:

1. Always be aware of your surroundings

This applies whether you are traveling alone or in groups. Dont just focus inwardly on your thoughts if you are alone, or your friends if you are together. Keep one eye out for your environment, looking out for suspicious characters, possible danger, etc.

Also, dont assume that because your area has been "safe" thus far, that it will continue to be so.

2. Travel in groups

"There is safety in numbers" is not just a cliche. Its true. Make a point of traveling together with other sisters, whether its on public transportation, on campus, in cars, etc.

3. Change the route you normally travel by

If youve taken the same bus, train or highway to get to work or school, change your route. Even if it takes you a little longer, your safety is more important. By changing your route, you can avert possible attacks or harassment from those who know your schedule, method and route of travel well. Please note though that you should avoid short cuts that take you through unfamiliar or unsafe areas.

4. Look confident

Walk with a straight posture and your arms swinging by your sides. Avoid slouching or walking like a victim. This makes you an easy target for attackers.

5. When riding by public transportation choose the right seat

If you are riding by bus or train, do not sit on the window seat as you may be "blocked in" by a potential assailant. Always select the seat next to the aisle so that you can quickly leave if necessary.

If you are taking public transportation alone after peak hours, sit as close to the driver as possible and/or choose the section of the bus/train that is most crowded. Try to get a seat near the exit as well.

6. If you are driving alone

Dont think that if you are in a car, youre safe. Windows should be up and doors locked even when driving to avoid unwanted passengers at intersections. When you are walking to your car, always have your keys ready, so that you can quickly get into your car.

But dont just get in right away. Always check your car before entering, especially the back, for any intruders.

7. Never leave your car door unlocked

Even if it means for one minute to drop something off in the mailbox thats a few feet away. Attackers have been known to lie in wait for such an opportunity.

8. Be careful in parking lots

Always be alert in parking lots, especially when it's dark. Ask someone to escort you to your car. Between cars and inside cars, it's easy for someone to hide and wait until an unalert person comes along.

9. If you are traveling by taxi

Always check the identification of the driver (usually located near the visor) and ensure that it matches the driver. Once inside, don't sit behind the driver as it may be easy for the driver to lock the rear passenger door. Always choose the adjacent seat .

In addition, avoid flagging taxis. Always order taxis so the driver can be traced if something happens.

10. Dont use the walkman

If youre used to listening to your walkman while outside, drop this habit, especially in isolated areas. With your walkman on, you cannot hear the approach of a possible attacker.

11. Note "safe houses" along your route

Mentally note houses at intervals on each route you take that can be used as "safe houses" if you are attacked, such as shops or houses that you know to be occupied by a friend or acquaintance.

12. When you make a call from a phone booth

After dialing the number you wish to call always turn around so that you have your back to the phone and may see who or what is coming your way. You will then be able to tell the person to whom you are speaking that you may be in trouble and you may be able to use the weight of the phone as a weapon. The door of a telephone box could be used to wedge in the limbs of the attacker.

13. Do not open the door of your home without checking

DO NOT open the door to your home without first checking from a window, peephole or by asking and verifying who it is. Instruct children to do the same.

14. Report any suspicious activity around your home

If you see people loitering on the streets near your house, call the police on a non emergency number and report it.

15. Invest in a cell phone

This is an invaluable safety device. Keep it with you at all times and keep emergency numbers on it. Also, keep it next to your bed before you go to bed at night. Cell phones were first popularized by women as a security device, business people came later.

16. Parking tips

Avoid parking in areas that are not well lit. Where possible, park close to a school or work entrance or in a parking garage that has an attendant.

If you see a suspicious person approaching or hanging around near your parked car, turn around and go back to an area where there are other people. Try to get an escort to your car through the campus or job security or local police.

17. Tell others about your whereabouts

Parents, spouses and friends should know where you are going and when you will be back, so that your absence will be noticed. Arrange a call in system with a friend if you live alone, whereby you call when you arrive home.

18. Trust your instincts

If you are walking somewhere and feel strange or scared, dont ignore this feeling. Take extra precautions by walking a little faster to get to a more populated or well-lit area or change the route youve been driving on.

19. If you think you are being followed, change your route and activity.

You can cross the street, change directions, or enter a populated building or store. Do whatever is necessary to avoid being alone with the person who is following you. Inform a police officer or security official about the

follower.

20. Attract attention if you are in a dangerous situation.

Get others to pay attention to what's happening to you if you are under attack or being harassed. You can alert others by honking a car horn or loudly describing what is happening.

21. NEVER admit that you are alone

If someone calls your home and asks if you are alone, NEVER admit it. Ask who the caller is. If they refuse to identify themselves, calmly hangup. Keep the radio on in the house so that callers will get the impression that others are in the home too. Instruct children to do the same when they pick up the phone.

22. Obscene phone calls

If you receive an obscene call or a crank call, do not talk to the caller. Hang up if the caller doesnt say anything, or as soon as s/he shouts obscenities. Hang up the phone calmly and do not slam it down. Note down the date and time of the calls. If they are persistent, inform local police.

23. If you are a student

Avoid studying in isolated classrooms in parts of the college campus that are not regularly patrolled by the schools security officers.

24. In large buildings take the elevator, not the stairwell

Stairwells are usually quiet and dark. Most people take the elevator. But if someone creepy gets on, dont hesitate to get off at the same time. Or, if someone is already on the elevator who you feel strange about, do not get on and wait for the next elevator.

YOGAKSHEMAM VAHAMYAHAM

One day, one friend asked another, 'How is it that you are always so happy? You have so much energy, and you never seem to get down.. '

With her eyes smiling, she said, ' I know the Secret!' 'What secret is that? ' To which she replied, I'll tell you all about it, But you have to promise to Share the Secret with others.'

'The Secret is this: I have learned there is little I can do In my life that will make me truly happy I must depend on God to make Me happy and to meet my needs. When a need arises in my life, I have to trust God to supply According to HIS riches. I have learned most of the time I don ' t need half of what I think I do. He has never let me down. Since I learned that ' Secret ' , I am happy.'

The questioner's first thought was, ' That's too simple! ' But upon reflecting over her own life She recalled how she thought a bigger house Would make her happy, but it didn't! She thought a better paying job Would make her happy, but it hadn't. When did she realize her greatest happiness? Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren, Playing games, eating pizza or reading a story, A simple gift from God.

Now you know it too! We can't depend on people to make us happy. Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that. Trust HIM! And now I pass the Secret on to you! So once you get it, what will you do?

YOU have to tell someone the Secret, too!

That GOD in His wisdom will take care of YOU! But it ' s not really a secret... We just have to believe it and do it.. Really trust God! I just did and hope you will too.

"To have God in our side doesn't mean sailing on a boat with no storms, it means having a boat that no storm can sink!"

The Miracle Of Silence

It seems contradictory to speak, or write, about silence because silence is really something to be experienced. In the experience of silence, we discover deep spiritual truths and come to know our spiritual self.

Silence grows within us, helping us to progress and develop in a very subtle way, just like a seed: the flower is hidden in the seed; the seed is hidden in the earth. Sunlight touches the earth that warms the seed and the flower begins to grow.

Like a seed, we are also full of a great deal of potential. It is not really knowledge, or discussion that will truly develop that potential. They help, of course, but it is the light of silence that penetrates very deeply and awakens the potential within, inspiring it to burst and to blossom into a flower.

Silence is also a space that gives the mind oxygen, allowing the creation of something new, filling life with power and strength.

Everybody's religion nowadays is one of being busy. Everyone's rushing around, doing something, proving something, showing something.

In that rush to be someone, we tend to forget the great power and miracle found in stillness.

Please spend some time silently for yourself to know the power of your powerful mind
